Triumph Tridays Rumbler | Gear Patrol

Triumph Tridays is a huge motorcycle event taking place every year in Neukirchen, Austria. The all-grass 400-meter scramble means you’ve got to have traction, stability and robust but manageable power. This year, you’ll see the Triumph Tridays Rumbler have a go at it. On the technical side, Jochen Schmitz-Linkweiler (say that ten times) of LSL complemented the Rumbler’s already capable 865cc parallel-twin engine with an Öhlins suspension, beefy Pirelli studded knobbies and a Magura Supermoto 4-piston brakes to prep the scramble-ready bike.

But it’s not all purpose-driven with no looks. Jens vom Brauck of JvB-Moto added a new headlight, fenders, a classic bench seat and a rather serious looking Arrow high-flow exhaust. The gorgeous gold front fork and matte brown tank paint are a nice departure from ubiquitous silver and black. The Rumbler should prove to be a worthy (and attractive) contestant, for sure. Sadly, this one’s not for sale but if you’re up to the task of modifying a Triumph Scrambler, you can acquire all the aforementioned parts yourself. Good luck with that.

Vilner takes on the BMW F800R

Vilner has taken the time to give the BMW F800R a once over to create the Predator. Built for a wealthy Russian businessman, the machine received a complete aesthetic redesign with plenty of components hewn from carbon fiber.

What isn't stitched from composite is coated in chrome, and the company's engineers set about shortening the bike by almost 10 inches. Vilner also ditched the dual saddle for a single seat variant and remade the headlight array. Red LEDs have replaced the standard bulbs, and a set of repurposed BMW Z4 turning indicators are now part of the action.

The Predator remains largely unchanged mechanically, though Vilner threw in a new, hand-built exhaust system. That means this machine still yields around 87 horsepower from its 800cc engine.

It may not look as futuristic as Znug Design’s electric motorcycle, but BRAMMO’s Empulse is definitely a part of what the future of the two-wheeled green revolution will look like. Featuring a 100 mile range and a posted top speed of 100 miles per hour, BRAMMO’s Empulse is built with the preferences of traditional gas-powered riders in mind, including the addition of a six-speed transmission (ala traditional performance street bikes) and seating for two. In short, BRAMMO CEO Craig Bramsher hopes you see the Empluse as they do: “Our hope is to deliver phenomenal motorcycles that just happens to be electric.” Given its lithium-cobalt battery-powered and water-cooled AC motor and regenerative breaking, this motorcycle will be significantly quieter than the other bikes on the street, but Bramsher believes that just adds more back to the riding experience. With prices starting at about $17,000, Brammo is looking to send models to 80 of the top dealerships around the United States, with a specific focus on California and Florida, where riding is almost always in-season. This is the ZecOO, an electric motorbike that can reach 75mph with a range that goes from 55 to 85 miles. No bad at all. But what I really like is its weird, anime jet fighter aesthetic, from its retro-futuristic profile to the extruded gauges to its front suspension.

It only takes four to six hours to charge, using its retractable power cord. That's pretty damn good.

The bike was created by Kota Nezu of Znug Design and, apparently, the Japanese press is raving about it. I don't blame them.

The company is going to start a limited edition production run. They will be available at $70,000 a pop.

Most of the new motorcycles we've seen recently have been moving away from flashy chrome. The Ducati Diavel Cromo Motorcycle ($TBA) embraces it, with a chrome mirror-finished gas tank that contrasts with other gloss black parts. Of course, it's still a Ducati, so it's loaded with high-performance parts like a 162hp Testastretta 11° engine, Brembo brakes, 14-spoke, 17-inch wheels wrapped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II rubber, three electronic riding modes, Ride-by-Wire and Ducati Traction Control technology, Marzoochi front forks, a Sachs rear suspension, and a hands-free ignition.
