RED: Your basic red rose is pretty safe; it says almost anything. Red roses can mean "congratulations," "good job," "I respect you," "you are brave" or "I love you."
DARK RED: "You are beautiful, but you don't know you're beautiful, or, if you do, you do not act like you know you are." A woman who knows the secret code will be impressed, but also aware that the dark red rose does not necessarily infer any kind of romantic alliegiance or promise of fidelity in itself.
SINGLE RED ROSE: A single red rose any other time of the year says, "I love you." Around Valentines, it says, "I'm a cheapskate."
WHITE: The sappy color. The wedding color.
PINK: "Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it."
DARK PINK: The same as above, but moreso.
LIGHT PINK: The same as regular pink, but without the onus - A good arm's-length compliment.
YELLOW: A sort of hallmark color. "You're my friend."
YELLOW WITH RED TIP: "I'm falling in love."
ORANGE: Desire and Enthusiasm.
RED & WHITE: Together they mean "I love you, I want us to be together."
PEACH: What peach roses mean is, "Look, we've been playing cute long enough - are you gonna consummate with me, or what?" Peach is the color of "I don't want to wait anymore."
CORAL: "Desire."
LAVENDER: "Love at first sight."
BLACK: black roses signify death.
