January 3, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Hosting.com (hosting.com) has acquired a data center and 150 customers from XO Communications (xo.com), according to reports. Financial terms of the deal, which closed in late December, were not disclosed.
The 36,000 square-foot data center facility is based in Irvine, California. As part of the deal, Louisville, Kentucky-based Hosting.com added 15 workers, bringing its total headcount to 65.
King says the new webhosting facility, currently only 20 percent full, will help the company market to potential clients on the West coast as well as expand the number of locations at which its customers can colocate equipment. XO reportedly spent $10 million building the facility.
Hosting.com operates data centers in Louisville and Boston.
